How do I care for my teeth after contouring?
Other than daily hygiene practices, contoured teeth require very little aftercare. To protect teeth and retain sufficient tooth enamel after treatment, we recommend:
- Using remineralizing toothpaste that contains fluoride or nano-hydroxyapatite
- Brushing at least two times a day with a soft-bristled toothbrush
- Flossing at least once a day
- Avoiding damaging behaviors, like crunching on ice or opening packaging with the teeth
- Visiting our dentist in Mission, BC, for yearly dental exams and cleanings
What are the benefits of dental contouring?
There are numerous benefits of dental contouring, including:
Improved Aesthetics
Changing the shape, length, and texture of teeth allows patients to control and update their appearances. As a result, they get a more uniform smile that boosts their confidence and enhances their oral health.
Smoother Smiles
Chipped teeth can give smiles a jagged appearance. Therefore, smoothing the edges of teeth not only improves the appearance of teeth, but it also reduces the risk of continued dental damage and accidental injury.
Healthier Teeth
Slightly overlapping teeth are harder to clean. As a result, minor misalignments easily trap bacteria and food debris, which can lead to cavities and gum disease. Removing a small amount of enamel allows patients to access hard-to-clean areas to improve their oral health and hygiene.
Not only that, but enameloplasty may be an ideal way to address bruxism (teeth grinding). By improving the contact between the upper and lower teeth, patients can get lasting relief from bruxism-related jaw pain and tooth sensitivity.
Quick, Painless, and Affordable Treatment
Dr. Shergill can painlessly reshape patients’ teeth in a single appointment. And at roughly $50 to $300 per treated tooth, it is a uniquely affordable cosmetic dental treatment (even without insurance!).
